Today, we don’t really know what our clothes are made of, or the chemicals in them that are harmful to ourselves and the environment. At ANGEL CHANG, we create seed-to-button, zero carbon womenswear that is handmade by indigenous tribes in the mountains. It’s traceable to the source using ancient techniques that follow the cycles of nature. So you can feel good knowing your clothes are healthy for you and the planet. – entirely hand-made by indigenous women artisans in Guizhou province, rural China- made without the use of electricity, chemicals, or fossil fuels – using just 3 ingredients: sun, plants, and mountain water
The Original Button-Down was the challenge that started the collection. Would it be possible to turn to make a shirt entirely from scratch? What did people do before the invention of the button-hole machine? Before plastic and metal buttons? How would we make these in a forest where neither existed? We started a training program with the villagers to make a shirt entirely from scratch entirely by hand, without the use of electricity. We grew the cotton, spun it into fabric, made our own buttons, and embroidered the button-holes. All the raw materials and fabric-making know-how came from within a 30-mile radius.
The original prototype was made for a Smithsonian exhibition and took two years to perfect. We recreated the exact same way fabric and clothing was made around the world up until 250 yeas ago at the start of the Industrial Revolution. We proved that clothing could be made in a non-polluting way, using traditional knowledge still practiced by indigenous grandmothers today. $400 – $1400
Another Tomorrow-The creation of this coat encapsulates Another Tomorrow’s core values and it was an adventure to bring it to life. For one, from an animal welfare and environmental welfare perspective, it was crucial to have a direct relationship with the farms from which we source and this comes from a wonderful ethical family-owned farm in Tasmania, that takes incredible care of their sheep and the land they graze on. Shelley, who takes closest care of the sheep, is a former nurse. The fabric itself is custom made with a 170 year-old mill in Italy that specializes in complex fabrics, and used the highest environmental standards for all of their processing. And the double-faced construction, truly an art, was done at a small family-run atelier of just nineteen people who do all of the work themselves, rather than outsourcing to lower cost facilities, as is often the case behind the scenes. $1,375

Many claim fashion doesn’t make the world a better place, but with our mission – it will. Changes is Arild Links third collection. The next level of making a statement. It’s no longer enough with just the look of fashion; Changes Is rooted in the spirit of materials which makes it an act of consciousness rather than just a show of support. The designs are made from destructed illegal firearms and recycled PET bottles, shaped into beautiful jewelry embodied with history. Greg Lauren The Army Tent Scrapwork Ollie, represents a combination of the brand’s history of deconstructing and reinventing classic sartorial archetypes in menswear as well as our commitment to GL Scraps, our sustainability initiative in which we use the scraps of previously cut garments to create yardage we call GL Scrapwork, which is then used to make entirely new garments (it took approximately 2.5 lbs of tent scraps to make the Ollie). Using repurposed materials, especially military fabrics such as a vintage U.S. Army Half Shelter (or tent) to create a garment has been part of our practice from the first collection, and more than ever finding ways to reuse materials and reduce waste is essential. This piece is an example of how we challenge ourselves to find creative solutions to a real problem, while simultaneously reimagining what a suit can say today. The silhouette honors the tradition and craftsmanship of tailoring, seen through the lens of this moment in time. Tent Scrapwork Ollie – $2,500
